Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 (Xbox 360) ImpressionsI was looking forward to this title for months, and I have to say that I’m a bit disappointed.  The game plays like the first title with only a few minor tweaks added overall.  Some of these tweaks like the inclusion of Super Fusion moves and Healing icons work well.  Other tweaks like the removal of individual stat boosts and limiting every character to only one additional costume are extremely questionable.
Then there’s the fact that the game is only loosely based on the Civil War storyarc.  There are a couple of cutscenes taken straight from the books (although cleaned up a bit), but the story takes an odd turn midway around Act II that’s missing from the comics.  I’m also a bit bummed over the fact that the game ignores several key parts of Civil War which could have fit perfectly with what happens in the game!  Goliath’s death by the hands of robot Thor, Spider-Man’s unmasking live on TV, The Punisher helping the Anti-Red heroes for a while; these all work with the game!
I finished one run through pretty fast and will be trying again on Legendary mode with the Pro-Reg side.  All I can say is that I wouldn’t buy this sucker at full price especially when i know full well that there will be ineviatable downloadable character packs.
